If you suffer from chronic pain, you might have been told its all in your head. Despite how annoying this claim is, that person may be more right than they know. Your chronic pain, in fact, very well may be linked to a certain part of your head.

People who suffer chronic pain often have to suffer in silence. The pain may move from one part of the body to another or seem to radiate all over. The problem is there is often no good cure. There is, however, an often overlooked cause of chronic pain and it lies in your nose.

About 40 million Americans suffer from chronic sinusitis otherwise known as a sinus infection. One of the often overlooked symptoms of sinus infections is chronic pain in other parts of the body. Sinusitis is often caused by an overabundance of inflammation in body. Often times people who have this type of pain are diagnosed with depression, also known to cause pain in the body.

Sinus infections are notoriously hard to clear. There are, however, some general guidelines that can help. In the process of clearing sinusitis a person can often get rid of the body pains as well.

One of the best ways to get rid of sinus infection is nasal irrigation. This approach at first seems a bit off putting but the relief can be quick. Nasal irrigation involves the use of a neti pot or some other sort of irrigator where water mixed with salt can be flushed through the sinuses.

A trick for more effective nasal irrigation is to add the sugar xylitol. Xylitol has the fascinating effect of making it difficult for bacteria to "stick" to cells. Often used in natural tooth care products, xylitol can readily be found in most health food stores.

If you suffer from chronic pain, be sure to rule out a sinus infection before resorting to dangerous drugs. So many times this is the issue and it is much easier to deal with.
